Continuing educations (CE) hours for EMS professionals are available for BLS for Healthcare Providers from Health & Safety Institute (HSI) and AHA, CAPCE accredited organizations.
American Heart Association
The AHA’s BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilations and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC). BLS certification is accepted by the LA County EMS Agency (Ref. Policy 1014)for EMT’s and Paramedics.
American Red Cross
The American Red Cross offers BLS training for individuals and teams, and courses that are held entirely in person, or through our blended Simulation Learning experience, which combines online classwork with in-person skills sessions. This way, you can learn on your schedule - and in the way that suits you best. Regardless of which type of course you choose, you'll receive instruction from world-class professionals, as well as science-based information that includes the latest protocols, so you can deliver care to those in need and help improve patient outcomes. Health and Safety Institute
The HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) program is for participants to gain or improve knowledge and skill proficiency in high-quality CPR skills and teamwork for the adult, child, and infant.
HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) reflects the latest resuscitation science and treatment recommendations published by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), and it conforms with the 2020 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC and the annual Guidelines Update. Continuing Education Hours Available: Emergency Medical Services (CAPCE) and Dental Professionals (AGD/PACE).
Regulation states " Courses and/or CE providers approved by the Continuing Education Coordinating Board for Emergency Medical Services (CECBEMS) or approved by EMS offices of other states are approved for use in California and need no further approval." HSI is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (“CAPCE”, formally CECBEMS). HSI approved Training Centers are required to offer continuing education hours (CEH) to EMS providers who complete HSI’s CAPCE approved BLS program. BLS certification is accepted by the LA County EMS Agency (Ref. Policy 1014)for EMT’s and Paramedics which states AHA, ARC or equivalent.

The intended audience is individuals who are occupationally required, to be trained and certified in pediatric first aid and/or CPR AED for the child, infant and adult.
Online Safety Training

Online Safety Training courses are purchased and delivered just like the blended courses we offer, but no in-person skills evaluation is required. Upon successful completion of an online course, a Certificate of Online Training will be issued. The course is one credit per individual.

Online OSHA 30-Hour
This training helps prepare safety leaders to take on any job site covering topics such as; accident investigation, personal protective equipment, and leadership skills for safety. The 30-hour OSHA Outreach courses provide more comprehensive awareness training on the recognition, avoidance, abatement, and prevention of workplace hazards. MedStat as an approved HSI training center offers this course for two industries: General and Construction.
Completed online for a more flexible learning experience. Offered in English and Spanish.
Once a student successfully completes the course, final exam and the course survey, plan on receiving your card in 4-6 weeks from the date of completion. The cards are produced by OSHA upon verification of completion and sent via standard mail.

This training teaches basic safety and health information to entry-level workers in construction and general industry. It is part of the OSHA Outreach Training Program, which explains serious workplace hazards, workers' rights, employer responsibilities and how to file an OSHA complaint.
