About MedStat Health & Safety
Founded in 2016, MedStat Health & Safety has been dedicated to providing high-quality CPR, First Aid, BLS, and Stop the Bleed training to the Antelope Valley and surrounding communities. Our mission is simple: Empowering You to Be a Lifesaver.
We proudly offer training for individuals from all walks of life, including:
Infant & Newborn CPR for families and caregivers
CPR & First Aid for schools, childcare providers, and the general public
BLS for Healthcare Providers such as EMTs, nurses, physicians, and paramedics
Workplace Safety courses including OSHA 10 & 30
Drug & Alcohol Testing Services for employers
Most recently, MedStat has been approved to offer California EMT Skills Competency Verification and online CAPCE-accredited EMS Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
We offer both in-person training and blended learning options to fit your schedule. Blended courses include a virtual classroom component followed by in-person, hands-on skills practice and testing to ensure certification readiness.
Whether you come to our location or prefer on-site training at your home, school, or workplace, MedStat is ready to meet your health and safety training needs.
MedStat, LLC is an approved training center for the Health & Safety Institute, American Red Cross, and an American Heart Association (AHA) aligned training site. All First Aid, CPR, and BLS programs are AHA-compliant and follow ILCOR (International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation) guidelines.

Our Leadership
Founder/Program Director - Matt Nybakken, EMT
Matt Nybakken began his career in Emergency Medical Services in 1998 as an EMT for a small private ambulance company in Lancaster, California. Over the years, he advanced through the ranks—from EMT to Operations Supervisor, and eventually served as General Manager for an ambulance service in the Los Angeles area.
Today, Matt continues to serve his community as an EMT with Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. He is a certified instructor with the American Heart Association, Health & Safety Institute, and the American Red Cross, teaching First Aid, CPR, BLS, and Emergency Medical Response (EMR). He is also a nationally certified EMS educator through the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE).
Matt is deeply passionate about public health education, EMS, and public safety. Outside of work, he is a dedicated family man and a custom car enthusiast who enjoys working on his own custom truck.
Clinical Director - Ken Kaufmann, EMT-P
Ken Kaufmann began his career in Emergency Medical Services in 1994 as an EMT in Queens, New York, and advanced to the role of Paramedic in 1998. A lifelong surfer and CrossFit enthusiast, Ken eventually made the move to the West Coast, drawn by its world-class surf and active lifestyle.
He is currently a California-certified Paramedic and serves as an Operations Manager for a private ambulance service in Southern California. Ken is an American Heart Association (AHA) aligned instructor and a certified EMS educator through the National Association of EMS Educators (NAEMSE).
Ken is passionate about physical fitness, EMS, and public safety education, and is dedicated to promoting health, resilience, and preparedness in the communities he serves.
